Receipts at the Lands Office for the past quarter were just upon twenty thousand pounds.

Major Parke, of Guy Fawkes Station, a very old resident of the district, died yesterday.

Mining matters are creating great interest. Good reports continue to come in from Hillgrove gold mines, and miners are confident that the Boorolong silver mines will turn out a big thing. The latest excitement is about Enmore, sixteen miles from Armidale. A trial assay gave a return of forty-seven ounces of gold to the ton.

Weather dry, and cold at night ; farmers want rain for farming.
